My main specialties lie in engineering and agricultural machinery but I am also very comfortable working in other areas of technical translation, such as automotive, mechanics, aviation and other areas relating to industry.
I have been a professional translator since 2010, having previously worked as an in-house translator with SDL. I specialised in technical translation and throughout my time there worked with many of the big names in the automotive and agricultural machinery industries, on content such as engineer training sessions, presentations, warranties, manuals, product descriptions for websites and press releases, among others. I was also involved in establishing training sessions for machine translation, and encoded client-specific dictionaries for automatic translation.
Since striking out on my own at the end of 2013, I have expanded further into the engineering sector, working mostly with clients from the oil and gas and construction industries, translating a wide range of content, from press releases and marketing material to more complex texts involving drilling and mining machinery. I am now also expanding into the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, as they are areas in which I am also interested.
I have gained invaluable experience in the industry over the years, especially in providing quality services in pressured environments and working to tight deadlines. I am professional, reliable and dedicated to producing work of the highest quality.
In 2007, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish from the University of Stirling. After graduation, I took some time out to work and travel in Colombia before returning to my native Belfast to work towards a Masters in Translation, graduating in 2010.
